The artist
손혜주, Son Hyeju, from her stage name Olivia Hye, was born on November 13, 2001 in Seoul. She is the 12th and final member of the South Korean K-POP group, LOONA. She was revealed on March 17, 2018 and released her single album on March 30, 2018. This album contains two tracks, "Egoist" (feat Jinsoul) and "Rosy" (feat Go Won and Heejin).
About the music and video
"Egoist" begins with rather quiet pop melodies, linked to a dance and graceful movements in the video clip. Throughout the music, the tempo accelerates and the register tends towards electro. The appearance of Jinsoul and her rap in the middle of the music allow to boost it: we reach then a sustained rhythm, very taking which holds us in breath. The positions also become more and more acrobatic, and the dances, more and more provocative.
A message behind her words
In addition to a varied and lively music, "Egoist" transmits a message through its lyrics. Like the title of this music, we must stop loving the other and trying to please him and instead take a step in self-love. Indeed, we can really love a person only if we love ourselves and if we accept ourselves as we are.
